The European Forum Alpbach 2024 came to a brilliant end with a discussion between top representatives of all Austrian parliamentary parties in front of 500 participants. The entire discussion was broadcasted on ORF III and marked the end of a forum that once again set new standards.
With almost 4,300 participants from 108 countries (2023: 4,200 participants from 98 countries), the EFA24 recorded strong international interest. Almost 51% of the speakers in the nearly 500 sessions were female. "Building on last year's success, the EFA24 continued its mission to make the event more international, younger, more diverse and more innovative. The growing number of participants and the international diversity underline the importance of the forum as a central platform for dialogue on Europe's future," emphasises EFA Secretary General Feri Thierry.
The annual theme, "Moment of Truth", took up the important electoral decisions that will be made worldwide in 2024. Against this backdrop, the Forum Alpbach offered a unique opportunity to discuss and help shape the European Union's political priorities for the next five years. "The Forum has shown that we are living in a time when it is not only important to have big talks, but also to act decisively. The year 2024 is a real moment of truth and it is up to us to stand up for a strong and united Europe," emphasised Andreas Treichl, President of the European Forum Alpbach.
The insights gained during the forum will be analysed by "reporting partners" for the first time. The European Forum Alpbach will work intensively on these results throughout the year as part of "EFA365". They will be the basis for the content of the EFA25, which will take place from 16 to 29 August 2025.
