On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the European Forum Alpbach (EFA), we are looking ahead: In these times of profound change, we are seeking 80 ideas for Europe to jointly drive forward an ambitious vision for the future.
The climate crisis, rapid technological change, a new geopolitical reality and the rise of populism and authoritarian politics: Tackling today’s pressing challenges requires fresh ideas and innovative solutions. That is why we invite everyone who believes in a strong and democratic Europe to take part at EFA25.
We are seeking ideas that:
- address Europe’s current challenges directly.
- contribute to strengthen a democratic Europe with a pragmatic, action-oriented spirit.
- follow a novel, previously untried approach or build upon existing solutions that have not yet been scaled at the European level.

From Concept to Realisation
A distinguished jury will select the 80 most compelling ideas from all submissions. These ideas will be showcased at the EFA25 and across EFA’s social media channels.
Twelve finalists will have the unique opportunity to pitch their vision live on one of the EFA25 stages and win over our audience. Meaning, the final decision rests not with us – the audience will select the four most promising ideas for Europe.
After that, the four winning ideas will not simply gather dust: They will be directly connected with high-level and relevant decisionmakers, providing a unique opportunity to further develop their concepts!
Important Deadlines:
- The submission deadline is 31 March 2025.
- The 80 most promising ideas will be selected by the end of June 2025.
