Bold Europe – An appeal to all Europeans to unite in dealing with the challenges our continent is facing. Until 2 September, European decision-makers from the fields of economics, politics, science, art, culture and civil society meet in Alpbach, Tyrol.

More than 600 scholarship holders between 18 and 35 years of age from over 80 countries, including students, young entrepreneurs and activists, were welcomed at the festive opening of the EFA – the “Welcome Ceremony” – in Alpbach. For five days, they can once again immerse themselves in scientific and artistic seminars.

“Alpbach serves the purpose of connecting the youth of Europe and the world across all political and social differences to give them the chance to discover and implement common solutions. The world and its problems are becoming increasingly complex – and this requires a great willingness to find a mutual point of reference. This is what Alpbach was created for and this is what we will continue fighting for”, EFA President Andreas Treichl explains.

After the five-day seminar programme, scholarship holders are given the opportunity to exchange ideas with leading and inspiring personalities for ten days in order to absorb knowledge and form their own opinions. Our network, which is now represented on almost every continent, and which has over 8,000 members in our Alpbach Clubs and initiative groups, is intended to contribute to the fact that the next generations, regardless of their political preferences, want to and are able to shape their future together.

The Euregio Days marked the beginning of the two-week event. In the morning, innovative research projects on the topics of energy transition, supply security and energy production from the Euroregion Tyrol/South Tyrol/Trentino were presented. The official award ceremony for the Euregio Young Researchers Award and the Euregio Innovation Award will take place on Sunday 20 August at the traditional Tyrol Day.
