Europe in the World Days

The Forum for Europeans who drive ideas for a strong and democratic Europe.

Key actors of European politics, the economy, science, and culture meet in Alpbach for the season kick-off. A variety of innovative formats shapes these four days, including hikes, chats, stages, workshops, and rituals.

Do not miss out:

Bridging the divides in politics and society is the goal of “Finding Common Ground in a Polarised World”. The Chat allows for controversy among its speakers and is looking forward to an insightful dialogue. Speaking about dissenting opinions: Have you ever thought about “Who is Going to Finance the Green Transition?” Follow this Stage discussion with a former Bank CEO and Club of Rome Co-president Sandrine Dixson-Declève! The latter will also be “Joining Forces for 1.5 Degrees” and analyse how we need to redesign our economic systems for that. Another risky business lies in “Europe’s Economic (In-)Security” after the pandemic and the ongoing war in Ukraine. Join this Hike for a meaningful exchange of ideas on limiting strategic dependencies. Among our speakers in this module are the Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović, political scientist Ivan Krastev, CEO of EIT Climate KIC Kirsten Dunlop and nobel prize laureate Joseph E. Stiglitz.

Austria in Europe Days

The Forum for those who shape Europe from an Austrian perspective.

To define Austria’s role in Europe and vice versa, the Austria in Europe Days mark the season opening of Austrian politics. Key actors of civil society, business, and parliament productively engage with each other and the next generation.

Do not miss out:

Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against Russia’s attacks is vital in the European defence discourse, calling for “More, Better and European Investments”. Equally important are Europe’s responsibilities in “Countering Far-Right Narratives” to safeguard its social cohesion. While these realms are often subject to political decision-making, “the Power of Your Personal Climate Handprint” points out everyone’s very own leverage in tackling the climate crisis. A Hike starring labour market expert Anja Meierkord will “Rethink Work in the Age of AI and Automation”. Other speakers on this module are for example the Polish Minister of Justice Adam Bodnar, climate activist Luisa Neubauer, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi and OSCE Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid.
