He heads the Land Use, Infrastructure and Transportation working group at the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (MCC). He is lead author of the fifth IPCC report and the Global Energy Assessment. He teaches Climate Change and Infrastructure at the Technical University of Berlin.
