As a pioneer of quantum physics, he researches quantum entanglement and the role that information plays in this. In 2022, Zeilinger was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his research. He was President of the Austrian Academy of Sciences until 2022 The founding of the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information, the International Academy Traunkirchen and the Institute of Science and Technology Austria are based on his initiative.
